IBPS PO 2016 MAINS Preparation Plan -- Guidance/Tips for all Sections

Overview:  IBPS has released the notification for the recruitment of Probationary Officers recently and candidates have already submitted the online application. This recruitment is valid for various public sector banks across the country and the number of vacancies is also high in number i.e. 8822. IBPS conducts a Preliminary Exam before the Mains Exam. The candidates who clear IBPS PO Prelims Exam successfully are allowed to appear for the Mains Exam. After the IBPS Mains, the qualified candidates are called for a personal interview conducted by IBPS.

IBPS PO 2016 Exam Pattern:  IBPS has made done some major changes in IBPS PO Exam pattern and IBPS PO syllabus 2016. The exam pattern of IBPS PO consists of three phases –

Phase-I –> Preliminary Examination

Phase-II –> Main Examination

Phase-III –> Interview

Note: –

  • Prelims Exam will consist of fewer questions and of shorter duration. The marks of Prelims exam will not be considered for preparing the final merit list.
  • Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests in PRELIMS Exam by securing passing marks to be decided by the Bank. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by the Bank (approximately 20 times the numbers of vacancies subject to availability) will be short-listed for the Main Examination.
  • Main Exam will consist of more questions and of longer duration. The marks of Main Exam will only be considered for short listing for personal interview.

Preparation Plan/Syllabus for IBPS PO 2016 MAINS EXAMINATION: Mains Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks.

Reasoning Ability–>

Reasoning is a test of observing our mental and problem solving ability. Reasoning is not like numerical skill where you learn some formula and solve question by applying that formula. You have to be very careful while answering these questions.  The most important questions from this section are:

In this section, the questions act as Calculation Instruments. This section is extremely scoring and the right understanding of the problem can help the aspirants to sail through this section. But you cannot get score good marks in English section. Most of the students face difficulty in this section. This is a test principally to determine candidate’s ability to remember main ideas and significant details. The most important questions from this section are:

  • Improve your vocabulary by knowing 10 new words everyday along with its Synonyms and Antonyms.

General Awareness –>

General Awareness is the most important section of IBPS PO Mains Exam. This section acquires more importance because this is the only section which can be attempted quickly and at the same time, very high marks can be scored in this section. The most important questions from this section are on the topics such as Banking Knowledge, Current Affairs, Oscar Awards, Organizations and Headquarters, Important Days, Famous Persons and their Roles, Award Winners, Books and Authors Games and Cups and Abbreviations. Apart from this study material, few tips from Engistan’s side:

  • Listen and read National news on daily basis.
  • Go through the General Awareness books such as Competition Master, Competition Success Review or Pratiyogita Darpan on monthly basis.
  • Study the last budget passed by the Central Government.
  • Aware of all changes around the world 6-7 months before the date of the Exam.

Computer Knowledge –>

Computer Knowledge is really the easiest section of IBPS PO Mains Exam. This section comprises of below topics:
