SSC CGL 2016: Revised Exam Pattern

As per the revised SSC CGL 2016 Notification, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has decided to reduce the number of questions from 200 to 100 in Tier-I of the above Examination which would continue to carry 200 marks. The duration of the Tier-I examination would be for a period of 75 minutes. It has also been decided to conduct the Tier-I and Tier-II in computer based examination mode in place of OMR based examination mode. SSC has also introduced Tier-III i.e. the Descriptive Paper in Hindi and English Language. Candidates have the Option to write the Paper in any language of their choice.

Moreover, the Mode of Exam has been changed from OMR Paper Pen mode to Computer Based Online Exam. This is a major change, as it will help reduce the Leakage of Question paper and instead bring more transparency to the Recruitment process.

SSC CGL 2016 TIER-I REVISED EXAM DATE:

As per the SSC CGL revised Notification, the SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam is scheduled to be held on 27th August, 2016 and the CGL 2016 Admit cards can be downloaded from 2nd week of August.

Tier-I is scheduled to be held from 27th August, 2016.

Earlier the SSC CGL Exam was scheduled on 8th and 22nd May 2016 which was then postponed to August and now, the Confirmed Date of CGL Tier-1 Exam is 27th August, 2016. The Dates of CGL Tier-2 Exam, will be announced later on.

Following changes are introduced in the CGL Exam Pattern:-

In the SSC CGL 2016 Tier-1 stage, the no. of questions are reduced from 200 Questions to 100 Questions and Exam Duration is changed from 2 hours to 75 Minutes. Below are the details:

Note: There will be negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer in Tier-I.

SSC CGL 2016 TIER-II REVISED EXAM PATTERN:

SSC CGL 2016 Tier-II Exam Pattern remains unchanged. Only the Mode of Examination is changed to Online mode.

Note: In SSC CGL Tier-II, the negative marking system will remain unchanged.

SSC CGL 2016 TIER-III REVISED EXAM PATTERN:

In addition to SSC CGL Tier-I and Tier-II, the Commission has also decided to introduce a Descriptive Paper of English/Hindi as Tier-III. The Question Paper will be bilingual. The candidates will have the option to choose any one medium. Below are the details —

The Final Stage i.e. SSC CGL Tier-IV, wherever applicable, will be Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) / Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).

SSC CGL 2016 Final Merit List:

The final merit will be prepared on overall performance in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III. However, the candidate will need to qualify all the tiers i.e. Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III separately. There will be no sectional cut-off.
