How to find a job after Engineering

Campus placements are comparatively easier than off campus placements. Less number of candidates makes campus placement easy for students as students studying in that institute only are eligible for such job opportunities. The companies arrive within educational institutes to provide jobs to students pursuing or in the stage of completing and select students depending on their requirements. For students who have less opportunities for campus placement have no other option then off campus placements.  For off campus placements students have to hunt for a job themselves and it may take a long time. This article will explain the various ways to get an offcampus job:

RESUME: First of all make an impressive Resume which is the basic foundation of job hunt and a critical job search tool. Recruiters will know about you from your resume or CV. It is the first impression an employer will have of you and helps them to decide your future. It should be short and should contain all information of yours in a simple and neat way.

REGISTER ON JOB SITES: You can register yourself on job sites like,, etc. Upload your resume on these sites and depending on your resume and qualification recruiters will call you for written test/ Interview via email or message. Remember to update your profile from time to time to get better job opportunities from job sites.

POOL CAMPUS DRIVES: Various companies organise pool campus drives and call students at one central location. Students studying in different colleges can apply for such jobs. The information for pool campus drives is available with institutes organising the drive and on various job sites also, so timely check the job sites.

VACANCIES IN COMPANY: Many companies post vacancies on their websites also. So regularly visit the website of companies and apply whenever they have suitable vacancy for you.

EXAMS FOR JOBS: Prepare well and give exam like ELITMUS, AMCAT, JOBMENTOR, C2C LIVEWIRE etc, based on your score in these exams companies will call you for interview.

EMPLOYMENT NEWSPAPER: Read the jobs column in daily newspaper or subscribe to monthly employment newspaper and look for jobs according to your qualifications and apply.

PROFESSIONAL NETWORK: Be in touch with people who are currently working in a company (your seniors, friends, relatives etc ) because many times when companies have vacancies, they recruit people referred by their present employees. So, if you are in touch with them, you will come to know about the vacancy and will get chance to apply.

JOB CONSULTANTS: Contact manually or register on internet to various job consultancies as they are specialised in providing placements services. Register in more than one consultancies, as this will increase your chances of placements.

JOB FAIRS AND SEMINARS: Attend job fairs which are recruitment event and many reputed companies hire candidates through these fairs. Also try to attend some Job seminars. They will  prove to be very fruitful. Mostly the topic of discussions for such seminar is how to get a job and various other stuff related to job only that will increase your knowledge and helps you to get a suitable job. The information of such seminars and fairs is available in newspaper, internet (job sites and companies website) and with institutes also.

BE PREPARED : Getting an interview call from company is not the end. Prepare yourself well for written test (Aptitude and technical), interview (HR and technical), and group discussions so that you are not rejected. Before going to company make yourself familiar with the past and present of company.
