IBPS CWE PO/MT 2016 Exam Pattern for PRELIMS and MAINS

Overview: IBPS has released the much awaited notification of IBPS PO-VI CWE (Common Written Examination) for the recruitment of Probationary Officer/Management Trainee vacancies in 20 public sector banks which is scheduled to be held in of October/November 2016. There are huge numbers of candidates who will apply for this year IBPS PO-VI CWE Exam. The candidates who applied  are eager to know the Exam Pattern so that they can work hard and clear the exam.

IBPS PO/MT-VI 2016-17 Exam Pattern: 

The Exam Pattern of IBPS PO consists of two phases followed by Interview –

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination –> Preliminary Examination consists of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted online. This test would be of 1 hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows:

Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing passing marks to be decided by the Bank. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by the IBPS will be short listed for the Main Examination.

Phase-II: Mains Examination –> Mains Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks.

The structure of the Mains Examination is as follows:

  • The above tests except the section of English Language will be available bilingually i.e. English and Hindi.
  • Reasoning section and Quantitative sections will carry 50 marks each.
  • General Awareness and English Language section will carry 40 marks each.
  • And, Computer Knowledge will be of 20 marks.

Negative Marking (Applicable to both – Preliminary and Main Examination) –>

There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score.

Minimum Cut off Marks –>

Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test and also a minimum total score to be shortlisted for interview. Depending on the number of vacancies available, cutoffs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for interview. Prior to the completion of the interview process, scores obtained in the online examination will not be shared with the candidates shortlisted for interview.


INTERVIEW: Candidates who have been shortlisted in the MAINS examination for CWE PO/MT-VI will subsequently be called for an Interview. The centre, address of the venue, time & date of Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter. The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The weightage (ratio) of CWE (Mains Exam) and interview will be 80:20 respectively. The combined final score of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination of CWE PO/MT-VI and Interview. A candidate should qualify both in the CWE and interview and be sufficiently high in the merit to be shortlisted for subsequent provisional allotment process, details of which will be made available subsequently on IBPS website.
